Splitting Maul Handle – ATLAS Hickory 90 cm, Head Size 50 x 30 mm

The ATLAS splitting maul handle is made from high-quality hickory wood and has a length of 90 cm with a head size of 50 x 30 mm. The oval-shaped handle helps keep the axe or maul head correctly aligned in the striking direction, providing a secure and comfortable grip during use.

For fitting the handle, two No. 4A metal hammer wedges, item number 651455, are recommended.

Hickory is a heavy, hard-wearing American hardwood known for its exceptional strength and durability. It is even stronger than ash and offers excellent toughness, shock resistance, and resilience, making it particularly well suited to handles for demanding applications.

The ATLAS hickory handle is finished with plant-based Carnauba wax. This allows the wood to breathe naturally while helping to protect it from absorbing water and dirt, while also preserving its attractive natural colour. The waxed finish contributes to a longer service life and provides a pleasantly smooth surface that can help reduce the risk of blisters during prolonged use.

Using a plant-based wax rather than varnish or paraffin also provides a more environmentally friendly finish for the handle.
